🔴 Module 6 — Chart Reading Basics
From a list of longitudes to a story you can tell — the absolute beginner workflow.
Step 1: Identify the Lagna
The Lagna (Ascendant) is the sign rising on the eastern horizon at the moment of birth. It anchors the 1st house. Every other house is counted forward from it. Use the Decoder tool to find the Lagna's sign, lord, nakshatra, and pada.
Step 2: Locate the Moon
The Moon is the most important graha after the Lagna. Note its sign (Janma Rasi) and nakshatra (Janma Nakshatra). Many traditional readings start from the Moon as 'Lagna' — this is called Chandra Lagna.
Step 3: Place every planet
Plot all 9 grahas in their signs on the South Indian or North Indian chart. Note any conjunctions (planets in the same sign), retrogrades, exaltations, debilitations.
Step 4: Lord placements
For each house 1–12, find its lord and where that lord sits. A house's results flow from where its lord is. Example: if the 10th lord (career) is in the 5th, career may involve creativity or children.
Step 5: Drishti (aspects)
Mark which houses are aspected by Mars, Jupiter, Saturn (special aspects) and the 7th-house aspects of all grahas. This reveals influences a planet has beyond where it sits.
